Write for YourTwoCents and win £100!

I’ll be honest; I’ve never quite understood the saying, ‘cometh the hour, cometh man.’ But a similar one that I most definitely do is: ‘cometh the World Cup, cometh the good times!’ Despite my passion for football and especially the World Cup, I must admit even I am getting tired of the countless number of football related TV adverts.  It is possible to see the link between Sony HD television and the World Cup (enhanced viewing experience etc), but I struggle to see how Pringles are related to footballers at all.

Rant aside, the team at YourTwoCents thought we should somehow get in on the act. We have decided that if you write an article or poem for us between now and the 25th of June, you can be in with a chance of winning £100. We have selected four teams (Italy, England, Ivory Coast and South Africa) and when you write an article or poem for us, you simply need to write the name of the team you pick from the above four at the bottom (with an explanation if you like).

Where does the money come in I hear you ask?

Well, if Italy (being the current World champions) win and you selected them then you will win yourself a massive £5. With that kind of money you could go buy yourself a nice bit of pasta!

If you chose England (home country of YourTwoCents) and they win the World Cup (fingers crossed) then we’ll give you £10 to spend on a nice meal of fish and chips.

If Ivory Coast do what no African team has done before and lift the trophy and you wrote them down then you will win yourself a whopping £50 which you can spend on [insert Ivorian cuisine here]

If South Africa, the hosts, manage to utilise their home advantage, with the whole nation behind them, and lift the World Cup on their home soil (as France did in 1998) and you select them then you will win yourself £100.

I’m not going to lie, we at YourTwoCents are praying that South Africa don’t win because being students, we really can’t afford to be dishing out £100 to people, but if it comes to that, then so be it.

Get writing, and send us your articles/poems. If it an article, please make sure it is 300 words or more and if you are writing a poem then ensure it is longer that 10 lines. We know there is a temptation to write a piece of dribble or copy something off the Internet, but we have software that can spot plagiarism and we also reserve the right to reject any entries that we feel are inadequate. Multiple entries by one person are allowed and remember you can write about any topic you like.

If there is something you are passionate about, we want to hear your two cents on the matter *winks at camera and walks away slowly*
