Iphone vs. Android
It’s never too late to revisit two smart phones with some of the hottest hardware specs on the market. iFixit’s Side-by-side breakdown of the internals of the Google Nexus one and Apple iPhone 3GS makes a compelling cost and feature argument for the Nexus One.
iFixit’s CEO Kyle Wiens sums it up nicely: “The Nexus One deserves more attention. Its hardware is really quite impressive, and yet no one seems to be buying it!” he said in a note sent out Thursday morning. (Though CNET’s Tom Krazit makes the case here that it’s not quite that simple.)
On the downside, if something goes awry internally, the Nexus One is up against a formidable infrastructure of Apple stores. “Our biggest beef with the Nexus One? There isn’t a parts supply chain for it yet, meaning all repairs have to go through HTC’s overpriced mail-in service,” Wiens said.
Everybody knows how the iPhone works and it’s features but what about the Nexus one. Google designed the Nexus One “with HTC,” Google executives clearly gave all the credit to HTC at its introduction, saying “It’s inaccurate to say Google designed the phone. Peter [Chou] and his team [at HTC] built and designed the phone. Google is just marketing and selling the phone.”
But the biggest difference between the 2 smart phones is the personality and customization. When you ask an iPhone user what they like about the iPhone they will give you a list of what they like but also what they don’t like, and when you ask them what you are going to do about it, they will say “I can’t do anything about it.”
On the Nexus one you can customize any feature that it has. If you do not like the texting on it, but you like the iPhone’s then you can change the text, or if you like any other phone’s texting style then you can change it to what you want it to be. And that is only one of the things you can change, Music player, wallpaper, screen saver, icons, lock and unlock screens are only some of the things you can change.
But iPhone users think that the iPhone is still better because of some key facts. The iPhone app store has 200,000+ apps but the android market only has 50,000+ apps. Iphone is easier to unlock, so it is much easier to access if you are not on the right mobile serves. And the biggest argument is that the iPhone has been around for longer but the nexus one is fairly new, so there are still arguments about the reliability of the phones.
Apple has become one of the most famous companies in the world because of the letter “I”. Now a days if you put the letter “I” in front of any product then it will sell, but if the product does not have that letter “I” then people have to think twice about buying it. Apple has made such a big franchise of their products that if you do not have one you are marked as un cool. Don’t get me wrong their products are great but everyone has one and if you don’t than you have to get one.
So at the end I think the only way to figure out which one is best is to see which one last longer. In the long run.
