Following a dream…
Ever have those moments where you have an epiphany, and just like that, you see your life-goal in a flash? Or the moments where you’re anxiously looking for a job, which is to no avail, and then one day you realise, that specific job isn’t even for you. You’re grateful for those moments, because you could have wasted your whole life doing something you would have detested if you got it, even though you were once certain it was your destiny. Sometimes we’ve got to wait for a job to appear and other times it waits for us to open up to it. A common tendency is to give up during these long waits. But it’s the perseverance and determination which earns you your title. Getting a job/qualification handed to you is simple, without effort. It’s the effort you put in which characterises the job; it adds that extra bit of satisfaction to the job. You’re essentially rewarded at the end of your long trail or hike up the mountain.
There are specific instances in life, where you see a necessity, and your life-long dream is to provide that service. For instance, when you travel to developing countries, you may tell yourself that one day you’ll open up a school/hospital there. Sometimes, it could just be your guilt surfacing, and occasionally it may just be a momentary feeling of selflessness which leads you in that direction. You’ve got to follow your dream, and realise any of your epiphanies. Sometimes it may be a difficult venture, but we shouldn’t let obstacles eliminate the potential of making something happen. It’s the ability to overcome those barriers, which determines success.
Often, we follow conventional routes to success, which arguably will derive a form of success, but we’ve got to evaluate whether that was what we were looking for, or was it merely us following a path that someone may have laid out for us. For instance, sometimes culture plays a big role in determining our job; sometimes we’re expected to become doctors/bankers/lawyers, and our ambition becomes constrained. We should be adventurous and question conformist ideals.
Every individual has their own trail; we should be out there to find our own, even if it means taking risks, just as explorers travelled to the UK to find new territory hundreds of years ago…

Amazing… this should be read by some of the older lots….
